More about this scene
This view looks south down the High Street from near High Bridge. The 11th-century tower of St Mary le Wigford church peers out amid the later commercial architecture. Medieval Lincoln expanded from the Roman walled town southwards along the Roman Ermine Street, which here becomes the High Street. Lloyds TSB on the right, built in 1900, has since lost its cupola, and Marks and Spencer has been rebuilt.
