More about this scene
This view shows the ornate cast-iron balcony of the Saracen's Head Hotel, now shops, and the tower of St Peter at Arches beyond Stone Bow, built in 1720, demolished in 1933 and largely rebuilt in Lamb Gardens as St Giles's Church at the instigation of the then vicar. The statues in the niches on Stone Bow are the Archangel Gabriel and the Virgin Mary.
