Littlehampton, Harbour 1903

More about this scene
There were two Littlehamptons, a busy port and fishing village about half a mile inland on the east bank of the Arun, and the seaside resort which grew up after 1800. Here the photographer looks north-west along the east bank wharves towards the site of the swing bridge that opened in 1908, five years after this view and now rebuilt in its turn as well as superseded by a road bridge further north.
