Does anyone else remember Mr. Patience shop? I used to save my bus fare and walk home from Oaklands School so I could buy my favourite sweets. Either Frys CHOCOLATE cream, or a little tin of Ovaltine tablets. This was in the early 50s. I also remember when they converted the room at the back of the shop into a coffee shop. The church was next to Loughton swimming pool in Traps Hill. I used to go to the church hall every Saturday mornings to watch the cartoons for kids. I loved it. I grew up in Wellfields
I am Peter Wright, I was in Stonnard? house, around 1961-1966. Fantastic memories of this place, perhaps the best being when the attached youth club hired a band to play - probably around 1965 - called the High Numbers.
