Lydstep, Smugglers Cave 1890

More about this scene

This is a tunnel cavern, with a large natural skylight and both landward and coastal entrances. The Lydstep caverns are only accessible at low tide, with the exception of the Smuggler's Cave, which was probably so named because of the high incidence of smuggling along the rocky coastline of Pembrokeshire - particularly in isolated bays where contraband could be stored.
