More about this scene

Nestling below the tree and shrub covered cliffs, with (on this occasion) sun- drenched water, this popular seaside resort has always attracted not only regular tourists but, appropriately, a Sailors' Home for retired mariners. The original quay was built in 1616. Over the years it was fitted with vertical and horizontal posts to protect the jetty from natural wave erosion, and both quay and ships against possible rubbing damage. Watchet

Sparked a Memory for you?

If this has sparked a memory, why not share it here?

Born in Taunton, christened in St. Michael's church in 1940 and lived on Parkhouse Road on and off for several years until 1956. Had my first drink of scrumpy at the Plume of Feathers. It may be 1965 and this is my query. Does anyone remember this event at Butlins in Minehead around Easter in either 1964 or 1965? I am trying to pinpoint the date to arrange a reunion but can't seem to get agreement as to which year it was. I remember the big dipper and a dance competition which I won on the 'Cha Cha' category but they'd run out of medals so gave me an athletics one instead!
I worked at the hospital in Minehead in the early 70's, as a nurse/midwife. Lived in Selbourne Place mostly. Also worked as a nurse in the medical unit at Butlins in 1970, for all of 6-8 weeks. It was a lovely place to live.
