Netley, The Castle c.1965

More about this scene
This imposing building is impressively situated on the shores of Southampton Water. The original castle, built by Henry VIII in 1542 as part of his many coastal defences, has all but disappeared, and was replaced by a large Victorian mansion during the 1880s. However, one surviving relic could be the Tudor archway in the main entrance, possibly part of the old fort.
