More about this scene
Newport began to grow as a town in the 13th century, and expanded as a port during the Industrial Revolution. Here we see the intense advertising from Wildings Limited, Clothiers - their department store still has a place on the opposite side of Commercial Street. The street was completely pedestrianised in 1986.
