More about this scene
This view looks in the opposite direction to No N125008. The supporting bearers to the timber frame of the Tudor building are visible in detail. The Ford Thames van bears a DD Gloucestershire registration; behind it we can just see the back of the latest Thames van which superseded it. The 15th-century tower of St Peter and St Paul church is on the skyline. It was built by the town's rich inhabitants during a period of religious fervour. This accounts for its striking majesty, with its mountains of masonry and panelled battlements; it rises to a stately 100 feet, so it is no wonder we can see it from here - it was meant to be seen for miles.
