Ascot Close, Northolt

A Memory of Northolt.

I with my twin brother Clive were born in Ripon Close in1958. Moved to Ascot Close number 15 around 1969. We both went to Islip Manner followed by Vincent from 1969 to 1974. Our friends included Robert Gosling, Danny Field, Tony Mace, Clifford Partridge, Andy Cherry, Clive Phillips and Clifford Thorne, who sadly died at a very young age.
My brother used to run a mobile disco called C-Quinn, used to play every Tuesday at the social club. When I was a teenager I worked in the green grocers near the cabin, I believe it was called Griggs. I too remember the sports days on the green opposite manderville road. It's funny I can still remember all the neighbours in Ascot close by name and door number. Bonfire nights were fun too. Today I live in Hampshire, still support QPR and have 2 great kids.

My god, I remember you both, and the disco's!!! I lived in Dabbs Hill Lane, and you were just over the field. I was friends with all the Bridles. I loved bonfire night too, and the Sports Day, such fun, it's a shame that community spirit isn't what it was in those days now. You might remember my dad, I'm sure he knew your dad .... Jim Morgan? Glad you're well :))
My nan and sadly late grandad lived at number 21 Ascot Close.May and Alan.Mrs Partridge as I knew her was my child minder.Im presuming her son is Clifford.I can't remember.I know she had a red setter dog.Im 40 years of age..
I used to live in Newmarket ave, in the mid 1950's, loved living there as they were still building there when i was little and we had hours of fun "playing" on the building sites, then moved to townson ave (the other side of northolt) 1962/3, stayed in northolt till 1978? moved to buckinghamshire, now living north of lancashire on the border of cumbria,
Passed northolt about 5 years ago, i barely reconised the places, oh wonderful memories back then!
I remember the green grocers, it was called Griggs, Phil Griggs (the son) used to play drums in a band.
