My Early Years In Northolt

I was born in Church Road opposite the school in 1941, next to the shoe menders, three doors from the Target. Moved to South Ealing when I was 4

Hi folks I was born in the Prefabs in Rowdell Rd Northolt in 1949. the green up to the Church was our playground and we loved to explore the diggings of the old Manor house next to the Church. I attended Northolt Primary School until from 55 to 1960 and hence to Walford Secondary Modern until 1966. Mr Clark was still the head and the swimming pool was opened in 66 just before I left. Our head boy, whose name escapes me, had the job of pushing Mr Clark in from off of the diving board. Total population of school, 300 pupils. I had a photo of Northolt primary school somewhere but have lost it so if any one has one, would be good to see it. In 56 we were turfed out of the prefabs to the new estate at the white Hart. Lime trees state was a horrible place. Never liked it and left at 18. We used to Dance at the Byron on the Ruislip Rd. 5shillings to get in and a tonic water for ninepence and you could Dance all night. That was Thursdays and Sundays. Happy days..
