Northolt Wood End

A Memory of Northolt.

Our family moved to Northolt (Mildred Avenue) around 1956 from Harlesden and I left in 1978. I have great memories of Wood End infants/junior school. Playing near Northolt Park Station and anoying the station master who we lovingly called 'Beetroot'. Cricket/Football on the racecourse with my brother and friends. 2nd Northolt Cubs was fun, as was a walk up the parade to do some shopping. I still have a fishing rod from Macs near South Harrow and remember the hustle and bustle of the market in the arches (is it still there?). Great days.

Hi Brian
I was born in Greenford no northolt in 1940 and was also a member of the 2nd Northolt cubs about 1947 and spent a lot of time playing around the clock tower and the fields by St Mary's church. Rowdell rd was were they stored a lot of the arms that came back from the war. I also went to Wood End infants and junior schools, I played football for the school (won the shield in 50-51 season) and for Ealing schools I have the photo on my wall to this day. Like to know what happened to them all, I can still name 9 of them.
Best wishes
Roy
Hallo Roy,
Just had a conversation with B.Jackson. Seems we have Tom Holland in common. There were 5 of the Hollands. All into football Cubs and general mayhem.
I would love to find the Johnson boys, Garry and Alan who lived in Carr Road.
My fond memories were of the parties and get togethers of the Labour Party members. The xmas kids parties were great fun. They hired Wood End school for these.
Later on I used to attend the youth club by Sadia in Northolt. Had lots of mates who went there.
Moved about a fair bit but now been back in the area for 40 plus years.
