Train Crash Going Down To Padiham Power Station.My Father Was The Train Driver Edward John Shackleton

A Memory of Padiham.

Not sure of the year it was in the 1970;s my dad told his fireman to jump, as there was to much weight on the back.Has it was going down to padiham power station.
If the fireman was you ,or you know the fireman ,or anything about it would you please get in touch .Has I would like to know more about it and what year it was .my granddad Walter Shackleton .Gave me some photos but he did not put the year it happened .my father died 1977 august 27th.

I was born in Padiham and all my dads family lived in Padiham. and Auntys and Uncles.and great granddad.and Dads Brother Frank Shackleton.at the time of the crash uncle Frank worked at Mullards he was the security guard on duty at the time of the crash.
Walter Shackleton.[grandad ] worked at Progress mill,he worked in the boiler house .and lived on Bright Street Padiham .So yes I remember Padiham well.I was born in the forty;s a war baby.

I went to night school . it was at the fountain there was a school there..we went to see the whit walk of all the churches. .every year.through padiham, I also worked at Progress mill it was a weaving factory.my granddad and grandma and my granddads brothers were tacklers and there wives were weavers.I am talking about the fiftys .when I worked there.and there was weavers stricks.we worked 45hours per week my first wage was £2.12.pence to take home.that was in 1958.I left there and went to Diana Coupes in hapton just up the road from the shed. I preferred sewing to weaving.then that moved to Burnley across the road was the general hospital.we made bed spreads .
