Pallotti Hall

A Memory of Pallotti Hall.

Hi all..I’ve just come across this site whilst looking for information on pallotti hall.now and again I try to find this place and then forget what it’s called..I’m quite sure it is now called thornycroft hall off pexhill rd in siddington.(if I’m wrong then please correct me).
It had changed from an orphanage to a childrens care home and I stayed there for 9 mths in 1979 and have some great memories of the place.the nuns still lived there at the time and I think the staff had rooms in a separate building.
I remember what seemed a large lake at the time.we had a cold winter that yr and it had iced over.probably the first time I’d ever seen an icy pond/lake.
I also remember plenty of walks around there dodgy all the huge mounds of cow manure (imagine the size of them as a 7 yr old, haha)
There were 4 of us,2 boys,2 girls aged 7,6,5and 4,and the nuns and staff really looked after us.we went to a nearby school that I vaguely remember had ‘king’ in its title.I remember the huge fields and horse ride outs.even all 4 of us sitting together on 1 horse and falling off as it trotted downhill around the trees..🤦🏾‍♂️.
Unfortunately I don’t have any pics but a few lovely memories and 1 bad memory.i watched Man Utd lose to arsenal in the 1977 fa cup final !!!!!😫
