Growing Up In Peckham

A Memory of Peckham.

My dad, John grew up in Peckham. He lived in Kincaid Road from the 1930s until the 1960s and then returned in the 1980s. He's in his 80s now and I would love to hear from anyone who may have known him.

Hi just seen this. I lived in Kincaid road as did my dad and his family at no9 . I lived there from 1949-56. Went to Peckham park school as did my dad of course. You don't say your name but used to be friendly with Chris, opposite No. 12 I think and Kay, my names Kay too there were two of us. My cousin Dennis lived in friary rd his friend Tony lived next to school. How things have changed it's been taken over now as a lot of London. Shame ..good memories though. Playing knock down ginger and digging holes in the old bomb site at the end of road.
Hi there - my name is Linda and I lived in Kincaid road from 1952 and also went to Peckham Park School. My Nana lived I think at number 11 . I still drive down there whenever I go to Peckham to visit my sister in law - so much has changed but the street is still standing .....I remember kids at school - Sheila Firestone, Pauline Taylor, and the headmaster Mr Laverick I think his name was .....Bonfire night was when we all went to the bomb site on the corner of Naylor road where the boys had collected a huge pile of old furniture and firewood, - no expensive fireworks in those days but sparklers and some people had a rocket or Catherine wheels . I use to go to sunday school at the mission hall around the corner - that's still there too but not sure what its used for now.
Hi, my family moved to number 13 in 1954 or thereabouts. My mum died in 2002 and we reluctantly sold the house. We mostly went to St Francis school. I remember playing with kids that lived on the road, including Giovanna, whose family owned the former chip shop at the end, Sandra who lived at no. 19. And a certain boy who went on to be quite a celebrity. We lived next to no. 11 - that was Florrie and her family.
