More about this scene
The scenery around the Nunnery Walks was said to be 'of a most picturesque and sublime description', and the series of cascades and waterfalls here is impressive. The poet William Wordsworth became acquainted with them as a young boy and later, after a visit in 1833, he was inspired to write his sonnet entitled 'Nunnery'.
