More about this scene
Our tour of Reading town centre starts at the railway sta- tion, built in 1840 and remodelled in the 1860s. Opposite is the Great Western Hotel, opened in 1844 and in an elegant Italianate stucco style. It is now offices and the more architecturally robust 1870s building to its left is now a theme pub.
