Redditch, Alcester Street 1949

More about this scene
Most of Alcester Street was demolished in the 1960s, but this small part of it survived. The building to the left of the prominent awning was Watkins Tea Rooms at the beginning of the 20th century, and the gable end (the northern one, not visible in this photograph) still carries the painted legend 'luncheon, dining, tea rooms' and also advertises accommodation for cyclists.
