These covered passageways look almost like an updated version of cathedral cloisters, in the much plainer style of the 20th century. It is amazing to think that it was only as recently as 1944 that an Education Act required local authorities to provide secondary schools for all.

I attended Redditch County High School from 1962-69. This is a picture of the senior block and one of the quadrangles. All the corridors connecting the classrooms were open to the elements, even in winter, so the rain, snow and hail came in while you were walking to your next lesson!
