Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

More about this scene

Huins Shoes dominated the corner of Market Place for over half a century, but it has gone now, and a bakery occupies the premises. James Huins also had shops in Evesham, Northfield and King's Norton, but the main branch was here at Redditch, along with the head office. It was advertised rather grandly as Boot Metropole.

Redditch Town Centre.
I remember Huins shoe shop, and Evesham Street. I worked for a time in Liptons. I went to college in Birmingham and returned to Redditch to work in N. H. Harris hairdressers in Market Place, above the Singer sewing machine shop, a few doors down from the Royal pub. I remember Saturdays were always the busiest, with the market a hub of activity. Evesham Street
I worked in my father's shop in Evesham Street and one in Alcester Street and then we moved into the Kingfisher Centre. We traded under the name of Spencers, selling TVs, radios, toys and records, I believe we were one of the first shops in Redditch to sell TVs. We held a show open to the public in the old Kingfisher Hall displaying TVs, radios, radiograms and Hi-Fis, I forget the name of the road but it was off ...see more

Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
