Rhuddlan, The Parliament Building c.1940

More about this scene
This hybrid of a survival reveals in its stonework the continuing patchwork of alteration. A plaque tells us that a fragment remains of the house in which Edward I held his parliament and in which the Statute of Rhuddlan was passed in 1284, and in the gable end medieval windows are sealed with later stonework. The building was re-fashioned in the 18th and 19th centuries to what we see now.
