More about this scene
Above the village of Rockingham lies the splendid castle, built by William the Conqueror on the site of an ancient fortress and at the heart of the great Rockingham Forest. For 500 years it was used as a royal residence and hunting lodge. Charles Dickens stayed at Rockingham Castle, and wrote part of 'Bleak House' here.
