Dating from c1730, it was originally a beer house, the Sign of the Castle.
All Saints contains a number of Roman relics, including an altar dating from 244.
Opposite is Victoria Place, dated 1837, the year Queen Victoria came to the throne. The single-storey cottage has been converted to changing rooms for the sports field.
Top right: Ecclesall Church, an important landmark in this sprawling suburb, dates from 1788 and replaced an ancient chapel that was served by the monks of Beauchief Abbey.
Many houses have date plaques, and most fall into a range between 1890 and 1910.
The house beyond with the catslide rear roof is dated 1694. The buildings on the right made way for new ones at the entrance to High Street in the 1950s.
Those in the distance are dated 1828 and Nos 28 and 29 on the left are timber-framed older cottages.
The exterior has lengthy inscriptions and dates recording those who gave money to the various parts of the building.
Fore Street heads east from the Market Place to cross the River Parrett on the iron bridge dated 1883; this replaced an early Coalbrookdale cast-iron bridge of 1795.
The original Railway Tavern dated from 1859. The building was later transformed into shops, but has now gone.
The White Hart Hotel's stuccoed front dates from about 1714. It is currently closed.
Standing in the shadow of a chestnut tree, the Royal Anchor Hotel, once a posting and coaching house, dates from the time of Samuel Pepys, who found 'good, honest people' there.
In the background is the beautiful abbey church, dating from around 1100.
The bridge is late 18th-century, but the central date plaque seen here from the north-east bank on the Sandy side of the river is illegible. To the right is the garden of Ivel Cottage.

Excellent 18th-century houses are to be found on the Leicester Road, but here we see a contrast between the thatched cottages of pre-18th-century date and the Rose and Crown pub, an early roadhouse.
The present manor house, Acorn Bank, dates from 1656. An historic herb garden, open to the public, is cared for here by the National Trust.
Even the opening date was kept a secret until a few minutes before the departure of the first train, for fear that the train would be overloaded; the railway only had one engine.
