The Church of St Gregory was built in the early 14th century and the west tower added in the 15th. It was extensively restored in 1866 when one of the arcades was removed, giving the interior its unusual appearance.

I am researching my family tree. My grandfather and five of his siblings were born in North London between 1854 and 1874. However, the census shows that two of his siblings, a brother and sister were born in Seaton in 1858 & 1859. I am wondering why this was so. As a young child I can remember several holidays taken at the Warners holiday camp at Seaton. The serious business of 'motoring down to Devon' was never taken lightly, lunch was prepared the night before to be eaten at Stonehenge, where one was free to sit upon the stones then, the Consul Mk2 was serviced or at least washed and polished, suitcases on the roof were wrapped in plastic, which made a noise all the way down! ...see more
