It was to Sheerness dockyard that Nelson's body was brought, preserved in a barrel of spirit, following his death at Trafalgar. Here in much happier times a pleasure boat returns passengers to the shore, and in the background we can see a big wheel pleasure ride.

I have a photo of my great-grandfather walking down Broadway. I'm unable to make out anything elso on my photo.
He vacationed in Sheerness in Blue Town during the 1930's.
I'd like to know the name of the steeple that is across from the Royal hotel. I've seen it in a few photos but I don't see it on modern maps.

I remember going to Sheerness in the early 1960's. My grandparents lived in Chatham, my grandad working in the stores at Chatham dockyard. I used to stay with them for a week and they bought a weekly train ticket to travel the line between Chatham and Dover. We used to visit Margate, Broadstairs, Ramsgate and Sheerness. This was my grandparent’s toy shop. I can remember hanging out of the window (the one with the curtain flapping) and watching the Sheerness Carnival floats pass by. It seems like another world now!

Can anybody remember 'Rix & Co', Ironmongers and Upholsterers, of New Brompton and Sheerness??
I have a small round foot stool, dating from the early 1900's. While cleaning and treating it for bugs etc, I found the makers sticker on the underside. As above.
