More about this scene

In the centre of this photograph is the Royal Hotel, a Victorian building that used to advertise itself as a 'Family and Commercial Hotel, fully licensed, premier position, garage'. Behind it is the Rio cinema - it closed in 1958. On the left is Sheerness and District Co-operative Society, with a ladies' and gentlemen's hairdressing salon next door.

If this has sparked a memory, why not share it here?

I have a photo of my great-grandfather walking down Broadway. I'm unable to make out anything elso on my photo. He vacationed in Sheerness in Blue Town during the 1930's. I'd like to know the name of the steeple that is across from the Royal hotel. I've seen it in a few photos but I don't see it on modern maps. Donna Webb
