More about this scene

At the time of this photograph, the prospect from the Pleasure Gardens then allowed a view of the fairly new Parish Church, but other buildings now obstruct it. The bandstand was demolished in 1938, but was recently replaced. The Refreshment Pavilion has become a pub. Rutland Terrace remains on the left; the end of the row, on the right, is now the Masonic Hall.
