Southend On Sea, The Pier 1947

More about this scene
Many of the old buildings seen at the entrance to the pier in earlier pictures had disappeared by this time. Steamer cruises had been popular for some years, with the Eagle Line taking passengers on day trips from the pier head. Pier Hill is busy with pedestrians but they seem untroubled by cars.
