Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. More about this scene

This superb minster church was founded before 956; the present church was started in 1108 by the Archbishop of York, and the west towers were completed by about 1150. Pairs of Norman west towers rarely survive intact; this example is even rarer in having Norman leaded pyramidal roofs. Admittedly, these are replicas dating from 1880 – the originals burned down in 1711. Southwell Minster became the Cathedral Church of the diocese in 1884.

Southwell
I was born in Southwell in 1955. In Easthorpe. I still go for walks around town i will be 62 this year. I would love to move back but the cost of houses are to much My first taste of beer was in the Portland. No longer there. I use to go to school there. My final school was the Edward Cludd. Infant School
The Methodist infant school's headmaster was George Topliss, my teacher was Mrs Cresswell. The school is now a private house. There were only three classes, infants, juniors and seniors. If you did not pass the 11+ you stayed until 14-15 years and then went to work. In the juniors was an ogre of a teacher, really strict and who spat when getting cross. Ideal Cinema
I was a projectionist at the cinema, we had a change of programe three times a week. The manager then was Mr Charles Ellis, he then lived at Halam, he used to bike to work then. There was also a ballroom at the top of the cinema, the people came from all over to dance on Saturday night. I also have seen long queues waiting to get into pictures. A Southwellian
I was born in 1941 on Westgate in Southwell opposite the old fire station - now offices - and my father was assistant headmaster at the Grammar School and my mother was a domestic science teacher at the Edward Cludd School. We moved to Vicars Court on Church Street and Kirkbys was the grocers at the top of the street. On the corner stood the National Provincial Bank. Genealogy & Research Images

Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
