More about this scene
Of the shops on the right, the Midland Bank is now, of course, HSBC. The well-stocked newsagent (right) has become a Sue Ryder shop, and Brinkworth's hardware store beyond it has been replaced by a building society. The mature cedar tree has gone, along with the Congregational chapel in whose grounds it stood. Behind the chapel site, back from the road, its gravestones have been preserved.
