Station Road was probably the first view of the town for most tourists, leading as it does from the railway to the sea front. It was a popular street for local shoppers, with a large selection of family retailers, though even as long ago as 1925 shops were catering for tourists with beach goods and souvenirs.

At the end of this road on the right would have been my grandfather's hairdresser shop. My Dad, his son, said that his mother would go in the bakery adjoined to the print shop next door to get baked goods for afternoon tea. Do you know the addresses of these shops? My grandfather had a hairdresser shop at 12 Station Road, Sutton Clark Hairdresser. His son, my Dad, does not have any photos of the shop.
This view shows my father's cafe/bakery 'The Dorothy' and other relatives shops were the tea gardens and chocolate shop.
