More about this scene
The view of Church Street from the opposite side of the roadway shows the medieval timber frontage of the Berkeley Arms Hotel with its first floor mullioned window, while further along is a four-storied, overhanging 16th-century building and shop. On the near side of the street, parked close to the butcher's and optician's, is a motor vehicle whose registration letters AB 100 mark it as being one of the earliest to take to the road in Britain.
