More about this scene

It is thought that there has been a building on the site of the church since Roman times. A coin of Emperor Constantine, c337AD, was found on the site close to the line of the old Akeman Street and its crossing with the Icknield Way. The corbels on the arches of the nave are worth a close examination. They depict a pig wearing a friar's cowl; a fox running off with a goose; and a monkey in a religious habit carrying a bottle in one hand and a book in the other. The church registers record the baptisms of a number of the early members of the family of George Washington, first President of the United States of America.

My Visit To Tring

Hi When I was about 10 years old and my younger brother was 9, we went on a holiday to Tring for under privileged children around 1962. It was arranged by the CCHF We stayed in a Bungalow, owned by Mr. and Mrs. Atkins and they had a son Stephen a daughter and 2 cats Snowball and Fleur We thought we were miles away from London and remember going in the woods to a tree house, fishing and helping to save some sheep ...see more

My Years In Tring
I was born at Aylesbury Hospital in 1948 and lived briefly at Pitstone, then Tring in Park Road and later Western Road. My Parents, Grandparents and many other relatives lived in the town. I attended Gravelly infant school in Park Road then Tring C of E Junior school under the headship of Miss Baker, who we were all terrified of! Tring Memories
The fondest memories I have was the time I lived in Tring. Born at number 36 Woodland Close and I lived in Tring until I was 21 years old. I remember Tring school and many of the teachers, Mr Thomas the Head Master, Mrs Thomas, Miss Speed, Mr Edney, Mr Hart, Mr Powell, Mr Green, Mr Jennings and Mr Edwards the sports master that helped me so much with my football career. Our Family
My mother's family all came from Tring, my grandparents were married at St Peter and St Paul, I was christened there. I was born at Whitecloud Farm which was used as a hospital during the Second World War. The Mosses must have bought it later. Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
