More about this scene

The name of this small settlement on the slopes of Wansfell Pike between Windermere and the Kirkstone Pass means exactly what it says - 'the trout stream' - and it stands above a stream of the same name. At the south end of the village is Townend, a typical Lakeland statesman's house, now in the care of the National Trust.
