Wells Next The Sea, The Quay c.1965

More about this scene
We are looking out from Wells towards the sea. This photograph was taken at high tide, otherwise extensive mud flats would be visible. The woods on the left-hand side are part of the Holkham estate. Beyond the trees are sandy but dangerous beaches, where the tide comes in faster than a man can run.
