More about this scene
This long view of Wendover is taken from the opposite direction to No 44773, looking north-east from the foot of Bacombe Hill; here the national long distance footpath, the Ridgeway Path, leaves the road to climb towards Coombe Hill. In the middle distance is the railway line to Aylesbury, then part of the Metropolitan Railway and opened in 1891. There is now a by-pass, opened in 1997, in front of the railway.
