More about this scene
This view looks north from above the Memorial Park, with the huge Facit New Mill on the right. Built of Accrington brick, it replaced a mill demolished in 1904. Facit New Mill was a cotton mill employing 700 people in its heyday – it closed in the mid 1960s. To the left of Market Street, Thomas Houghton`s cotton waste mill has the smaller Spodden Mill to its right- hand side.
