Winchester, Station Hill 1909

More about this scene
Anyone familiar with the centre of Winchester will know the station approach. One feature that sets this scene apart from that of today is the amount of advertising. The walls and buildings here seem to be plastered with advertisements. Note the sign on the far left for a large dining room to accommodate parties. Above it is an advertisement for wedding cakes. Caps and top hats were a common sight in the early years of the 20th century.
