I recall the garage in London Road as Richardson & Star, next to Cardrick's garage and Bennett at the post office next to that. I don't recall a sweet shop in Seaford Road though. There was Purver the baker on the corner with London road.

There was a sweet shop opposite St Crispin's main entrance in London Road. There were two other shops in London Road opposite the churchyard.

Harry Coff and there was also Ham River. Both transported mostly gravel.

Hello, I wonder do you remember the dairy shop which I was in the High Street of Wokingham, I worked there for a short period of time in 1957 after leaving school. I cannot remember the manager's name but I do remember him telling me his daughter was crown Wokingham beauty queen a year or two previously. The Dairy shop was owned by Cliffords Dairies of Bracknell. If you were a teenager in Wokingham in the 50's do you also remember the Wokingham Jazz Club where we teenagers would go jiving. Spent many a happy evening there dancing the night away. Jean (nee Russell)
I remember the Imp cafe, we used to go there after school.Anyone recall Cockrel`s the newsagent in Peach Street ( he had an eye patch, I used to do a paper round for him before school early sixties, found out later it was a double, but was only paid for one.Later worked at the International Stores in Denmark Street fridays and saturdays,( manager: Mr. Gordon) a number of connections with workers there still exist fortunately.
Hi Chris, that fruit and veg van chap you mentioned, can`t remember the name, but probably the guy I worked for one summer, he drove around the estates, I had to stay in the van while he was delivering to the ladies, so to speak. The garage near Crispin`s I recall, I had a weekend job at the Embrook filling station on the Reading Road mid-late sixties.Dewhurst`s and Baxter`s and Manning`s I remember, the nss newsagents is probably the one that I mentioned above.
Oh my yes!my dad was the manager of shoe craft next to the redan and we lived above the shop. I would look across the road at the beatniks and mini skirted dolly birds in the imp in awe. The throaty old motor bikes, and the noise from the coffee machine,

When we moved in, early 60s, the newsagents was run by Mr and Mrs wise. They had 3 kids Stephen David and Anne and they were my constant companions as was Janice chipper whose mum and dad ran the chippy. I can still hear them yelling at the dog"get back in your basket skippy" there was a lovely girl called Shirley who worked for the wises who used to take us to the swimming pool but god help us if we got her hair wet. I think it was concrete! And of course we spent hours in the ritz watching Beatles films and elvis.
Hi Chris, yes, I was in the air cadets - if you are talking about 2211 squadron based at the RAF base in Bracknell? I remember John Slater the CEO especially as I went out with one of his five daughters off and on for many years! Some of the other cadets were Dave Hanks, Frank Brejcha, Gwyn Mullet, Pete French, Richard Maddern, Tony Briar and more! Did you live just past the Holts school on the London Road?
I do remember Mr. & Mrs. Purver, their bakery was very
popular. Mr. Blackman used to cross us over the road. Mr. Vokes was my favourite teacher at Wescott Road school.
