More about this scene
Dedicated to St Mary and St Stephen, the parish church was rebuilt in the late 1840s; all that is left of an earlier 12th-century structure is the lower part of the west tower. The Roman Catholic church, which is dedicated to St Thomas of Canterbury, was designed by J A Hansom, who was also the architect for Birmingham Town Hall; he is best remembered for the Hansom cab.
