More about this scene
This view of Worcester Cathedral was taken looking west along the length of the quire and nave to the great west window. The tomb in the foreground is that of King John (1167-1216), the first post-Conquest monarch to be buried in England; he lies at Worcester at his own request. In 1218 the remains of Worcester's two saints, Wulfstan and Oswald, were transferred from their original tombs to a shrine in the quire and King John was buried between them – they are represented by two small figures either side of his shoulders.
