A Memory of Worksop.

Memories from many years ago. My father David Dickson was the dentist who built the house at 9 Newcastle Street which is where I spent my early years.. After the war we moved to Birkland Villa which we entered from a laneway just south of the pharmacy "Deauville". This house had been owned by TC Mills. My father had previously bought the dental practice from him. We then helped look after TC as he then lived until his death in the upstairs of 9 Newcastle Street and he used to join us for Sunday lunch. My best friend was the daughter of Cyril Cox of the grocery Perham Cox shown in the photo of Bridge Street. We remained friends all our lives until her death a few years ago even though I have lived in Canada for over 50 years. Birkland Villa was sold in the 1960's. and replaced by a church and my parents moved out of town. It was set in an acre of land with old apple trees and a fig tree. It was close to everything. Bridge Street was my home. There was at the local library water-colour of it called "Birklands", It just showed a pastoral setting of the time it was built. Should they still have it it would be great to see it.
