Memories of Winchmore Hill


I was born in Palmers Green in Jan 1940 and lived at 18 Farndale Ave. from 1948-1960. I went to Winchmore Hill Secondary Modern from 1951-1953.  I remember the Capitol Cinema and the Saturday morning film club which was a part of most kids' lives at the time. I remember it all - Fords Grove we used to swim in the river there and Barowell Green. I see its all gone now I often look on Google earth at good old England, I live in USA now.

I have fond memories of Winchmore Hill where I was born in 1937. We lived in Hadley Way till about 1949, then moved to Slades Hill in Enfield. I went to St Pauls School (Mr Gayler) then Minchenden. I lived at 72 Farndale Avenue and went to Winchmore Hill School. We used to spend all our summers at the swimming pool in Barrowell Green , My surname was Hall.
