Here, the Georgian character of the more formal Market Place is clear, descending to the bridge over the Frome.
It was the wool trade that built the town, with its seething market and vast numbers of ships.

In the late 17th century the town had an established, high-quality cheese and butter market, with buyers coming from as far as London to do business.
This pleasant market town lies just inland from the chalets and caravans of the 'honky-tonk' north coast between Rhyl and Colwyn Bay.
