Bibury, The Saxon Stone In North Side Of The Church Wall c.1960
Photo ref:

More about this scene
At first glimpse Bibury church, with its castellated roofline and square tower, looks largely 15th-century. On closer examination, however, the fabric's earlier origins become evident. Set into the north, or 'Devil's side' of the building, is this Saxon motif of interlocking rings, a reminder that the town was once part of the ancient kingdom of Mercia.
