I lived in Oxton from the late 50s to the early 80s, and have many fond memories.
Does any body remember Fred the barber in Rose Mount. He was quite a character, and nobody went there unless they wanted a short back and sides, followed with a sizeable dollop of Brylcreme……therefore I can only remember going there once! I seem to remember he charged a shilling.

It used to be in a nunnery in Birkenhead just off manor hill nr entrance to the park ..it was called Nazareth house ? I went to Hamilton middle school in the juniors ? I was 8/9 at the time ?? A few kids I got to know we're Wade Taylor. mark white. Alan Wright. Karen ledgem. Kim Smith ....my names mark n for some reason was given the nickname faggsy 🫣...so these kids are now around 61/62yrs of age ... Does anyone remember any of these or the school

I was born in Birkenhead in 1954 at the back of Central Station, opposite the Haymarket, and still remember being hungry all the time. We were poor, as was everyone we knew. I was looking for any pictures of my Grandfathers side of the family, his name was (Cornelius) GEORGE HUNT, his brothers were CHARLES AND DAVID HUNT (DAVID) was killed in The Great War. My Grandfather had sisters ADA and MAUDE/MAUD? My Great grandfather was CHARLES HUNT and was a locomotive/train driver. He was married to FANNY SIMPSON. Hi, my surname was Rivington and we use to live on the corner of Seymour Street and Holt Hill. Looked like the house of the Munsters 😁I was a real tomboy. Use to go to mersey Park primary then prenton high. I remember family names of Rimmer, Grace, King and McGrath. We use to play, 'war' in mersey Park. Hearing the hooter for cammel lards, Morgan ice creams on Church Road and lots more.
We lived at the corner of Cleveland St and Vittoria. My dad was a docker. Life wasn’t easy, but we had lots of mates and family in the area.
