Robert Henry Batty RAF Bletchley
A Memory of Bletchley.
I have received details of my father's RAF service (actually some years ago) to find he was stationed at RAF Bletchley.
But I know nothing at all about the place and I have found it difficult to find a good resource.
Sadly, my father died in 1977 long before I was even more than slightly aware of his service.
I did know he was a signalman (as far as I remember) and finding out today that the station was a signal station adds some credence to that memory (and unfortunately the lost photo I had of him with his gear.)
It is only in the last year or so that I made the connection that he served during the latter part of WWII.
Born towards the end of 1926, from memory I think his service began in 1944 - I guess as National Service - and as I recall from his record, I think he served for into the early 1950s - only some part at Bletchley.
I'm not sure what the rules for service were in those days, and he may we have been invalided out as he suffered a life-changing illness in his mid-20s.
Anyway, long story short, if anyone can give me any pointers for resources, or - longest of long shots - if anyone has any memories of Robert Henry Batty, I'd be thrilled to hear from you.
Thanks
Dave
