Burnley, The Kitchen, Towneley Hall c.1955

More about this scene
The hall is now Burnley's museum and art gallery, and a fine collection it has too. Some rooms are furnished to reflect different historical periods, with the kitchen depicting the Victorian era. Huge joints or even whole animals were roasted on the spit before the fire, whilst fowl or smaller pieces would be hung from the rotating hooks.
