More about this scene
The famous twisted spire of St Mary and All Saints leaves one in no doubt that this is Chesterfield. The Midland Railway station opened for traffic on 2 May 1870, replacing the somewhat smaller yet grander original station designed by North Midland Railway architect Francis Thompson.
