More about this scene
Ivy and creeper cover the attractive features of what is known as the Town Gate or Castle Lodge. It is described in the Department of the Environment List of Special Architectural or Historic Interest: 'Large round tower and lower square tower flanking gateway with machicolated crenellated parapets. The double grid pattern timber gates are set in large Norman archway, flanked by heavy shafts with cushion capitals'. What has changed today is the addition of a bungalow built into the body of the square tower.
